ARRIVAL AND PICK UP
Please have your child ready to start their class on time. If you are 15 minutes or later for a class it is better to schedule a make up or not attend that day. It is very disruptive for the other children in the class and the instructor. As well, your child is missing the warmup and stretch, a very important part of the class. If you do arrive late please ask a staff member for assistance in getting your child to their class. Parents are not insured to be in the gym area.
Please pick up your child on time. Instructors go from one class to another and instructors are not able to stay with the children once the class has ended. If you are going to be late or if there is a possibility of you being late, please inform the office or your child’s instructor.
PLEASE BRING YOUR CHILD INTO THE PREMISES AND PICK THEM UP FROM INSIDE THE PREMISES. WE CANNOT NOT LET CHILDREN WAIT OUTSIDE FOR THEIR PARENTS TO ARRIVE!
Participants are asked to wait outside the gym for their classes to start. Instructors will invite classes into the gym at the appropriate time. No use of the equipment is permitted unless under the supervision of an instructor. Parents and siblings are not allowed in the gym area for obvious liability and safety concerns.
FOOD, BEVERAGES, CHEWING GUM OR OUTSIDE FOOTWEAR – for safety and sanitary reasons, none of these are permitted in the gym area. Parents can use the viewing areas to watch their children. Only participating children and parents are allowed in the gym area.
WHAT TO WEAR
T-shirts, tank tops, shorts, or stretchy type pants/sweatpants. Please no baggy tops, no long sleeve shirts, and no jewelry. Safety is our number 1 priority, so we cannot have the children worried about their shirts going over their heads when they are in a handstand or upside. We also do not want the children tripping over their pants if they are too long. Long hair should be pulled up and out of their faces. Children will be rolling so make sure they do not have anything in their hair that might hurt their heads.
Our number one priority is to ensure a safe environment for all children and staff. We ask that our participants are safety conscious of themselves and those around them. We will do our best to keep them busy and having fun. At Kerrigan Gymnastics we use three steps to discipline.
INITIAL SAFETY INCIDENT
Participants will be asked if they are being safe. “Tell me how you were being safe?”
If they continue to be unsafe, they will be excluded from the activity for a short time.
SECOND SAFETY WARNING
Parents will be notified when the child is picked up at the end of the day of the problem or concern we have dealt with.
A conference with the parents, participant, and director will take place.
We will do our best to handle all situations at the academy. If parents were called during the day, it would be because of a situation that we feel puts others at risk. We reserve the right to send a child home when we feel they are not acting in a safe or healthy manner and are not willing or able to change their behavior. No credit will be given when this occurs. We further reserve the right to expel a child from the Academy any time we feel it is necessary for safety reasons or if we feel that the structure and environment of our program cannot reasonably meet a child’s needs.
